1 cup honey
4 tbsp brown sugar
1 cup finely chopped walnuts /
2½ cups flour + extra for kneading
1 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp rum
1½ tsp ginger
½ tbsp of crushed cloves
½ packet of butter
Grated peels of one lemon and one orange
Fondant for decoration and sugar flowers;
Beat the eggs with the sugar and then add the honey.
Melt the butter in water bath and mix it to the honey mixture.
Add the citrus peels, spices, rum and nuts. Start adding the flour with the baking soda and stir continiously.
We should get solid kneading dough. Spread the crust with thickness of aboout 0.5 cm.
Cut out the desired shapes and arrange them onto a baking tray covered with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven to 170C/335F.
Bake no more than 16-17 minutes until nice and golden color.
When they’re cool enough, you can decorate with the fondant as per imagination.
